Almost every Wednesday–with only a break here and there–Arizona Highways Magazine runs a themed photo contest on their Facebook page, called Friday Fotos. Open to anyone who wishes to enter, the Arizona Highway editors select finalists to showcase on Friday of the same week (hence the name “Friday Fotos”). All the finalists are ‘winners’ in that they have been selected from among the hundreds of entries generally submitted each week, with each person allowed up to two entries. I was thrilled in 2013 when I started entering this contest and had one of my images selected for a finalist the first time I entered. >Insert gigantic smiley face!<
It has been my honor to have my images selected many times since then, and it has always been a thrill, it never gets old! Please note that despite having my images selected numerous times over the years, Arizona Highways Magazine has not endorsed myself (Cheryl Caffarella Wilson) or my company (CCW Digital Artistry) with the publishing of any of my entries, as per their caveat: “By submitting photographs to Arizona Highways via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr or other social networking sites, the photographer grants Arizona Highways electronic rights. No financial consideration will be paid to anyone for publication on the Arizona Highways blog or website. By publishing a photographer’s work to its blog, Arizona Highways does not endorse the photographer’s private business or claim responsibility for any business relationships entered into between the photographer and our readers.”
I must say, though, that being selected by the editors of such a magazine as Arizona Highways (long a favorite and known world-wide for their amazing photographic images) is an honor for me, even if it is only on their Facebook page, or sometimes on their magazine website. None of my photographs have been published in the magazine itself, at least not yet (I can dream, can’t I? After all, it’s good to have goals).
