Ahoy Mateys!!! I know it’s corny, but I could not resist that nor the title of this particular blog since both the Bride and the Groom are serving our country in the Navy…thank you for your service Amy & Ken! I’ve known Amy for a long time as she was one of my riding students for years~so many great memories~it was fun to see her grow into a beautiful young woman serving God and her country.
Amy really wanted Ken to wear his Naval dress uniform for the ceremony (even though it’s made of wool and it was a hot day here); even so, he donned his uniform and looked great in it while he stood ramrod straight for his groom portraits and during the ceremony. They went with Navy colors (blue and gold) and followed that theme throughout the flowers, dresses and reception decorations.
Ken has a hidden talent that I was unaware of until the wedding–he enjoys cooking/baking and is something of a pastry chef. He baked the bottom two layers of the cake for the guests, then since Amy must eat gluten-free (along with many of the guests) he had two GF layers baked by a local GF bakery, Gourmet Girls Gluten Free Bakery & Bistro, then he put them together (being sure to have a good barrier between GF and non-GF) in an elegant tower formation decorated with real rose blooms, ribbons and rose petals dipped in sugar…it was a piece of work. As you will see in the photos, the finished product was just beautiful…amazing job, Ken!
Ken was such a romantic when he took Amy in his arms for their first dance…he serenaded her for the entire dance and then ended it with a dip and a kiss on her hand…very classy! It gave us a glimpse of how he cherishes Amy, an important thing for everyone watching, especially Amy’s parents.
Thanks for letting me be a part of your special day Amy and Ken!
